It’s not a stupid question at all! For National History Day, the attire typically leans towards smart casual or business casual rather than formal. You want to look polished and put-together, but a full suit may be more than necessary. Consider wearing dress pants or chinos with a nice shirt, or a dress that’s not too formal.
