I think both the semester and linear course systems have their advantages and disadvantages, so it really depends on individual learning styles and preferences.
The semester system generally provides a broader curriculum spread over a longer period, allowing for deeper exploration of subjects. It can also make it easier to balance coursework with extracurricular activities and internships, as students can focus on fewer subjects at a time.
On the other hand, the linear system, with its more intensive and focused approach, can be beneficial for mastering a subject in a shorter time frame. It can create a sense of urgency that motivates students to stay engaged and invested in their studies.
Personally, I lean toward the semester system because I appreciate the time to digest and reflect on the material. It also offers the flexibility to explore a wider range of subjects in one academic year. However, I can see the appeal of the linear system for those who thrive under pressure and prefer to dive deep into one subject at a time. What about you? Which system do you prefer and why?
