Feeling Anxious About the Future

I’m feeling quite anxious about my low GPA in high school and how it might affect my experience in community college. I’ve dealt with significant depression and a lack of motivation throughout high school, especially during my senior year. With just three months until graduation, I’m starting to feel the pressure as my life is about to really begin, and it’s hard to believe how quickly time has flown.

I have some career ideas in mind, such as obtaining my realtor or stockbroker license, but I’m also open to exploring other paths. If you have any suggestions for careers that could broaden my perspective, I would really appreciate it.

Ultimately, I aspire to work for myself, though I understand that it may not be possible right away. I’m not currently interested in pursuing a trade, but I do have an interest in fields like real estate, finance, architecture, and sales.

I apologize if my thoughts seem scattered; there’s so much swirling around in my mind right now, and I find myself in a really confusing phase of life.

  1. First of all, it’s completely okay to feel overwhelmed and uncertain about your future, especially after what you’ve been through. Graduation is a big transition, and it’s natural to have worries about what comes next. Remember that your GPA, while it feels significant right now, doesn’t define your worth or potential. Many successful people have had rocky starts but found their paths later on.

It’s great to hear that you have some career interests! Real estate and finance can be promising fields, especially with your desire to work for yourself. In addition to getting your realtor’s or stock broker’s license, you might want to explore:

    1. Property Management: This allows you to manage rental properties and can be a stepping stone into real estate investing.

    2. Real Estate Investment: Consider looking into commercial real estate or flipping houses. It requires some capital, but it can be very rewarding.

    3. Financial Planning or Advising: Helping others manage their finances can be fulfilling. You could start with certifications that require less formal education.

    4. Sales and Marketing: These skills are crucial in many fields, not just real estate. Learning how to sell and market can benefit any entrepreneurial venture.

    5. Entrepreneurship: Think about starting your own small business in a sector you’re passionate about once you gain some experience.

    6. Online Courses or Certifications: If you’re worried about your GPA, many online platforms offer courses in finance or real estate that can help build your resume.

    7. Internships or Part-time Jobs: Gaining experience, even in unrelated fields, can provide valuable skills and networking opportunities.

Lastly, don’t hesitate to seek support for your mental health. Your well-being is important, and talking to someone about your feelings can make a big difference. You’re not alone, and it’s okay to ask for help. Remember, it’s never too late to change your path, and you have the power to shape your future. Take things one step at a time, and you’ll find your way. Best of luck with everything!
