When can I reach out to my professor about the lack of graded assignments? I’m currently enrolled in a half-semester course, and while the professor has provided helpful advice about time management and how this course isn’t as intensive as a full semester class, I’m concerned about the ungraded work. We submitted a three-page midterm essay around a month ago, and it’s still ungraded, even as we approach the deadline for our final paper this week. Each week includes one assignment following about four hours of reading and a one-hour lecture, but so far only three of the one-paragraph discussion posts have been graded. Given that final grades are due next Sunday, when would be the appropriate time to inquire about when we can expect our work to be graded?

Missing Semester on Transcripts I hope this is the right place to post this—if not, I’d appreciate any guidance on where to go. It’s completely reasonable to seek clarification about your grades, especially given the time-sensitive nature of your course. Since the course is half-semester and the final grades are due soon, it makes sense to reach out for an update.
You can consider sending a polite email to your professor, expressing your understanding of their advice regarding time management and acknowledging that you appreciate their insights. Then, you can ask for an update on the grading timeline for the midterm and the other assignments. It’s helpful to frame your question in a way that shows you’re trying to plan your workload effectively.
For example, you could say something like:
“Dear Professor [Name],
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to reach out regarding our assignments, specifically the midterm and some of the discussion posts that have not yet been graded. I understand that managing our time is essential, and with the final paper approaching, I’m trying to organize my efforts effectively. Could you please provide an update on the grading timeline?
Thank you for your guidance and support!
Best,
[Your Name]”
This way, you’re asking for information while demonstrating respect for their position. Good luck!
