Does This Boy Still Like Me?

I’m not sure if I should share this, but I probably need to. I’m a 16-year-old girl, and I’ve known this boy since I was 9. He confessed to having feelings for me about two years ago, which made things a bit awkward between us. It didn’t help when he said something really hurtful a few months back, claiming I was too awkward to talk to. Since then, I’ve struggled to have a genuine conversation with him.

Recently, I’ve noticed he’s been staring at me, and the other day, he awkwardly smiled when I maintained eye contact. It seemed like he was trying to hold back that smile, but I’m not sure why. I’m left wondering what he wants from me. Did I make him flustered? Does he still like me? I don’t want to ask him directly, but I’m really curious.

I’m confused about my own feelings too—I think about him a lot, but I’m not even sure if I have a crush on him. Maybe I’m just in denial. I find it hard to approach him now; I wish we could communicate without words. Although talking to him feels challenging, I know he means well. Deep down, I think he still has good intentions toward me. What should I do?

  1. It sounds like you’re in a confusing situation! It’s totally normal to feel uncertain about how someone feels, especially after a history like yours. His complimenting you with attention, even after the awkwardness, could suggest that he still has feelings for you. However, the past comments he made really hurt, and it’s natural that you feel hesitant to engage with him.

If you want clarity without directly asking him, you might try casually chatting with him in a low-pressure setting. Sometimes, small interactions can help break the ice and ease the tension. Pay attention to how he responds — it could give you insight into his feelings.

It’s also okay to take some time to sort through your own feelings. If you find that he’s still on your mind, it might mean there’s something there worth exploring. Just remember, communication is key in any relationship, so don’t shy away from expressing how you feel when you’re ready. Whatever happens, it’s all part of figuring things out as you grow!
