How to Break the Procrastination Cycle

I’ve come across countless articles on this topic, and I’d like to share my own experience that helped me find a way out.

About three months ago, I found myself trapped in a familiar cycle: skipping classes, neglecting my homework, and spending hours lost in video games or mindlessly scrolling through social media. Things got so out of hand that I dreaded exams and felt uncertain about my future.

Fortunately, with the unwavering support of my family, I was able to turn things around. Now, I’m on a journey of self-improvement, alongside many others. I’ve never made it this far before, but I did it this time. Here are some tips that have helped me along the way:

  1. Don’t Delay Until Tomorrow
    You already know that putting things off until tomorrow only leads to more procrastination. So why not tackle that task today? If it feels too daunting, try this next tip:

  2. Break Tasks Into Smaller Steps
    Dividing a larger task into smaller, manageable parts can trick your mind into viewing it as less overwhelming, making it easier to complete. Start small and build your momentum.

  3. Prioritize Consistency Over Perfection
    This one is crucial—don’t aim for perfection from the get-go. Trying to be perfect right away will only lead to disappointment and could cause you to slip back into procrastination.
