Hey everyone!
I graduated last year and now work in the IT department of a big school district. Fun fact: I can see all your search history! đ So, feel free to ask me anythingâwhether you’re a student, teacher, or somewhere in between.
Here’s a quick word of caution that could keep you (and your teachers, who may be lurking here as well!) out of hot water:
SCHOOL COMPUTERS ARE NOT PRIVATE!
Seriously, stop using Google Docs to indulge your fantasies of being a half-eaten fruit basket. We see it, and itâs not pretty.
Just a reminder:
SCHOOL COMPUTERS ARE NOT PRIVATE!
We can see your search historyâyes, even that time you searched for “anime workouts” on DuckDuckGo. The ducks wonât protect you from us, and neither will Vegeta’s impressive muscles.
And just to be clear, Incognito Mode doesnât offer any privacy here.
SCHOOL COMPUTERS ARE NOT PRIVATE!
And teachers (or future educators): please avoid watching questionable content on your work computers… we can see that too.
Just wanted to share this little note.
By the way, I graduated from high school last year and have been working as a computer technician for my district since then. I handle tech support for two schools, and let me tell you, it can be quite the challenge! If you have any questions about my job or tech stuff in general, feel free to ask!
Thanks for reading! I enjoyed your questions, and remember: Big Brother is Watching. đ
Thank you for sharing this important reminder! It’s wild to think about how much people forget that school computers are monitored. Your insights are really valuable, especially for students who might not realize the long-term consequences of their online behavior.
As for your job, it sounds like youâre in a unique position to really help students and teachers with their tech issues. Whatâs one of the most interesting (or surprising) things you’ve encountered while working in the IT department? Any memorable tech fails or funny stories you can share? And whatâs your favorite part of working in education technology?
