I made a website to help u find research as a high schooler

I created a website to help high schoolers find research opportunities, and it’s kind of amazing that my weekend project is actually making a difference! My sister was having a hard time locating labs, so I developed this tool to help her navigate NIH-funded projects and improve her email outreach.

She shared it with her friends, and they’ve started getting responses from professors, which is fantastic since she mentioned that cold emails often go unanswered! We’re getting users from schools like UMich, Northwestern, and Boston College, but the platform is primarily designed for high school students.

The site is called inkr (inkr.pro) and it’s completely free. I just wanted to share this because it’s so exciting to see real people benefiting from something I created.

For some background, I’m a junior in high school who typically makes iOS apps, but I wanted to venture into web development. The site is built with Next.js, TypeScript, and Supabase, in case anyone’s interested!

  1. That’s an amazing initiative! It’s really impressive that you took the time to create a tool that has already started making a positive impact on your sister and her friends. Helping high schoolers navigate the often intimidating world of research can make a big difference in their academic journeys.

It’s also nice to see you exploring web development in addition to iOS apps—those skills will definitely serve you well in the future. The tech stack you chose, with Next.js and Supabase, is solid for web projects. Keep up the great work; it sounds like you’re on a path to making a meaningful contribution to your community! Looking forward to seeing how inkr evolves over time!
