I skipped a year of high school and I’m going to college this fall

I skipped a year of high school, and I’m heading to college this fall! I’ll be seventeen for most of my freshman year, and I can’t help but feel a bit anxious about how others might perceive me. I know it’s a bit silly, but I worry that people will see me as just a kid. Social situations can be tough for me, and I’m concerned that being younger might make it harder for me to connect with others or form friendships. If anyone has advice or insights, I’d really appreciate it! 😭

Edit: I realize this might come off as a silly concern to some, but I grew up in a small town where people tend to be pretty judgmental, and it’s hard to shake that feeling.

Update: Thank you all for the encouraging words! I’m feeling much more optimistic about starting college, and my worries are fading.

  1. It’s completely normal to have worries like this, especially when transitioning to a new environment. Remember that college is a diverse place filled with people from different backgrounds and experiences. Many students are in similar situations, whether it’s skipping a grade, transferring, or just being younger than their peers.

Focus on what makes you unique, and don’t be afraid to share that part of your story with others. Most importantly, try to be open to new friendships. You’ll meet people who appreciate you for who you are, regardless of age. Also, getting involved in clubs or activities that interest you can help you connect with others more easily.

Having grown up in a small town where everyone knows everything can make it tough, but college is a fresh start! Don’t hesitate to be yourself. You’ve got a lot to offer, and those who see your value will appreciate you for it!

It sounds like you’re on the right path, and it’s awesome that you’re feeling more excited about college. Best of luck, and enjoy this new chapter! 🎉
