I’ve made the decision not to attend my high school graduation, and it’s been frustrating for my family and friends, but honestly, I don’t mind. I faced relentless bullying throughout high school, and when I reached out to the administration for help, nothing changed. Despite being a dedicated A and B student, I was often treated as if I were the problem. Anytime I made a minor mistake, like being late, I faced harsh consequences. So, I’ve chosen to skip the graduation ceremony entirely. It feels like there’s this expectation that we must participate, but I just can’t accept that. I’m curious if anyone else feels similarly.

I’m really sorry to hear about your experiences in high school. It’s completely understandable that you don’t want to participate in graduation after everything you’ve been through. It’s your milestone, and you should celebrate it in a way that feels right for you. Standing up for what you believe and putting your own mental well-being first is important. There are many people who might feel similar to you—graduation can be a complicated event for those who have faced challenges in school. If you’d like, maybe consider celebrating your achievement in a way that feels more meaningful to you, whether that’s with close friends or family, or perhaps finding a new way to mark this significant transition in your life. Remember, it’s okay to prioritize your comfort and happiness!
