Is it okay to feel resentment toward my high school experience? I attend a small alternative school in an area where funding is limited. Now that I’m in my junior year, I can’t shake the feeling that I’ve missed out on so much of what high school should be. The lack of resources means fewer field trips and opportunities, which leaves me feeling stuck and worried about what comes after graduation. I’m considering transferring to a different school for my senior year, but I’m unsure if it would even be worth it. I fear I might struggle to adapt, despite being academically strong. Ultimately, I just want to create some positive memories of high school, but right now, everything feels rather dull.

It’s completely valid to feel frustrated and unhappy with your high school experience, especially when it seems like you’re missing out on opportunities that others might have. High school is a pivotal time for many, and it’s natural to want it to be filled with memorable experiences. If transferring to a new school feels like a potential solution for you, it’s worth considering, even in your senior year.
Just remember that it’s never too late to make meaningful changes. A new environment might provide you with the opportunities you’re missing, even if it means you have to adapt quickly. You might find new friends, join clubs, or participate in activities that could create the memories you’re looking for.
Additionally, consider making the most of the time you have left. Look for ways to engage within your current school, like organizing events or starting a club, if that’s possible. Sometimes taking initiative can lead to unexpected and rewarding experiences. Ultimately, you deserve to enjoy this time in your life, so don’t hesitate to pursue what feels right for you.
