Is this to harsh of a topic?

Is this topic too sensitive?

I’m working on an assignment about Alfred Hitchcock, and while the webquest started off smoothly, I recently discovered various allegations against him. Now I’m unsure if creating a brochure that includes this information is appropriate. As a freshman, I’m not sure if my perspective matters. The more I read, the more unsettled I feel, but I find myself unable to resist exploring deeper into this complex issue. What do you think?

  1. It’s completely understandable to feel conflicted about diving into such a complex topic, especially as a freshman. Alfred Hitchcock is a fascinating figure in film history, but his personal life and the accusations against him can be quite troubling.

When tackling sensitive subjects, it’s important to approach them thoughtfully. If you decide to include these aspects in your brochure, you might consider framing them in a way that acknowledges the impact of his behavior while still celebrating his contributions to cinema. Emphasizing the duality of his genius and his controversies can provide a balanced perspective.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or sick after reading about these accusations, it’s okay to step back and focus on the aspects of Hitchcock’s work that you’re comfortable discussing. Remember to take care of your mental health, and don’t hesitate to reach out to your instructor or classmates if you need support or guidance. Good luck with your assignment!
