prom problem

Prom Dilemma
So, my prom is this Saturday (March 8th), and I asked my friend—who I’ve known since 8th grade—out on February 25th (which was a Tuesday), and she said yes. Yesterday, I tried to discuss our plans for the day leading up to the dance, but we couldn’t come to a decision. She didn’t respond until late in the evening, and then she mentioned that one of her friends wants her to hang out at their house on prom day. She asked if I could join, but unfortunately, their strict parents said no, as they have rules against having boys around. Now we can’t meet up before prom, and I’m really bummed because I was looking forward to going with her. It feels like she prioritized her friends over someone who genuinely cares for her. I’ve been reaching out to other friends to see if they have spots in their groups, but everyone seems to already have plans or their groups are full. I really don’t want to show up alone. What should I do?

  1. It sounds like you’re in a tough situation, and it’s completely understandable to feel upset about it. It’s important to remember that friendships can sometimes be complicated, especially when it comes to events like prom. Here are a few suggestions on how to handle this:

    1. Communicate Openly: Talk to your friend about how you’re feeling. Maybe she didn’t realize how much this meant to you. Let her know you’re disappointed but also that you understand her situation.

    2. Explore Other Options: Keep looking for other groups to join. Sometimes new connections can lead to great experiences. You might even find someone who is also looking for a prom buddy.

    3. Consider Going Solo: If you can’t find a group, consider going alone. Prom can still be fun even if you don’t have a specific group to hang out with. You can enjoy the night and meet new people there.

    4. Stay Positive: Try to focus on the fun aspects of prom itself—dressing up, dancing, and enjoying the experience. It’s a chance to celebrate with your classmates!

    5. Be Open-Minded: If things don’t go as planned, keep an open mind. Sometimes unexpected moments turn into the best memories.

No matter what, you deserve to have a great time at prom, so try to keep your spirits up!

Why isn’t anyone hitting on me? Here’s a little background: I’m a teenager and I think I have a decent appearance—I have dimples and wear glasses. The only thing is, I’m quite tall, taller than most guys. Almost all of my friends have been hit on and many are in relationships, so I’m really confused […]

I just remembered teachers can see our screens while we take exams

I just realized that teachers can monitor our screens during exams! During my AP Literature mock exam on Saturday, I ended up spending about 9 minutes on just one question. I promise I wasn’t cheating—I just have ADHD and needed to reread it a few times to make sure I understood.
