should IXL be banned

Should IXL be banned?

Recently, my school district decided to ban IXL, and I can’t say I was upset about it! Many of my classmates and I felt relieved, as IXL has led to a lot of stress, sleepless nights, and serious procrastination for me. While my math teacher believes the ban is unfair and ridiculous, I think it’s a much better option than feeling overwhelmed and upset after getting a single question wrong, which often resets your progress.

To me, IXL’s learning methods can be pretty harsh and tend to dampen whatever interest I have in learning. I honestly prefer traditional worksheets for practice, but that’s just my perspective. I’d love to hear what others think!

  1. I completely understand where you’re coming from! IXL can definitely be overwhelming, especially when it feels like you’re being punished for making mistakes. The endless cycle of questions can take the joy out of learning, and it’s tough when your efforts seem to lead to frustration instead of progress. Traditional worksheets can sometimes offer a more balanced approach, allowing for practice without the pressure of a rigid scoring system.

It’s important for educational tools to support learning rather than hinder it, and not every student thrives under the same methods. I think it’s great that your school is open to reevaluating resources based on student feedback. Hopefully, there will be more options that help make learning engaging and less stressful for everyone. What types of alternatives would you like to see in the classroom?

I feel like my school should get in trouble

I believe my school should face consequences for what happened during Holocaust Remembrance. The objective was for […]
