Story time on the time I got expelled for a year.

Let me share a wild story about the time I was expelled for a year.

This took place during the final months of my 9th grade year, and looking back, it feels like a particularly random time in my life. Instagram accounts were gaining popularity, often sharing the most bizarre content, like people napping or eating. So, my friends and I started brainstorming ideas for our own quirky accounts. That’s when my best friend suggested creating a Confessions account.

I thought it was a brilliant idea, so I went ahead and set it up! The concept was simple: students could submit anonymous confessions through a Google form. (Looking back, definitely a questionable decision.)

At first, the account didn’t gain much traction, but by 10th grade, it really started to take off. I thought it was fascinating—some confessions were hilarious, while others were concerning. Unfortunately, my naïveté at the time meant I didn’t realize I should be reporting some of these more troubling confessions. (Keep that in mind.)

One day, as I was scrolling through the submissions for new content, I came across a confession that threatened a school shooting. Naturally, I panicked and asked my friends for advice, and one urged me to report it to a teacher.

I did just that, informing the school staff about the threat. I didn’t think much would come of it until two weeks later when I was summoned to the main office, where I learned I had been suspended.

Here’s the shocking part: they didn’t expel me for running the account or even because they mistakenly thought I sent the threat. No, instead, they thanked me for reporting it! I was expelled because I failed to disclose a confession involving someone having a crush on a teacher.

Just to clarify, I was a straight-A student, never late to class, and hadn’t caused any issues before this. And the day of the threat? Thankfully, nothing happened—no one showed up.

People’s reactions can be pretty amusing when I tell this story since they can’t believe someone like me could get expelled.

I’m grateful that the person who reviewed my case decided it wouldn’t be on my transcript.

Now, as I’m in my senior year, it’s surreal to think back on that incident.

  1. Wow, what a wild story! 😳 It’s crazy how a creative idea turned into such a whirlwind of events. It must have been so stressful to get called into the office and then find out it was for something you didn’t even think would be a big deal. It’s also reassuring that you reported the threat—definitely the right move there!

I can’t believe they thanked you for reporting the serious confession but ended up expelling you for the crush on the teacher. That seems like an overreach, especially since you’re such a model student. I’m glad it didn’t end up on your transcript, though—it sounds like you’ve been able to move on from it.

It’s interesting how people tend to judge based on appearances, and I bet your classmates are shocked to hear you went through that. It must give you a unique perspective and some good stories to tell! Best of luck with your senior year—sounds like you’ve got a lot to look forward to! 🎉
