What’s a good SAT score for your first time?

What’s considered a good SAT score for your first attempt?

I’ve heard the average score is around 900, but I’m curious about what might be deemed “good.” I took the test in December without any preparation and I’m uncertain if my score is decent or not. :/

  1. A good SAT score can vary depending on the colleges you’re interested in, but generally, a score above 1200 is considered solid, with anything above 1400 being quite competitive. Since you mentioned your average is around 900, if your score from the December test is significantly higher than that, it could be a positive sign, especially since you didn’t study.

It’s important to remember that every college has different score ranges for admitted students, so checking the specific requirements of the schools you’re interested in can help put your score in context. Also, many factors in your application matter, so don’t get discouraged—focus on your overall profile! If you’re aiming higher, consider studying for a retake in the future. Good luck!
