Why do people act strange around those who are a bit different?
I know I’m odd; I do some silly things in class and I’m definitely socially awkward. It seems like my classmates have picked up on this because they always say the weirdest things to me now. For example, during class, they’ll randomly call my name for no reason at all, and one guy even blew me a kiss! There was a time when a girl saw my Discord on my phone and, without hesitation, blurted it out loud, which led everyone to start calling me a “Discord kitten.” The other day, I was walking down the hall when someone shouted from a distance, asking if I was a Discord kitten đ.
Then there’s this guy who likes to call me “his Discord mod,” and another random dude refers to me as “his girl.” While none of it really offends me, I find myself confused about how to react. At lunch, two girls approached me giggling and said I remind them of the Mysterious Girl from TikTok. I looked it up, and to be honest, I’m not quite sure how to take that either. Iâve forgotten a lot of the little things theyâve done. I just feel a bit lost about all of it and canât quite figure out their intentionsâmaybe Iâm just slow on the uptake. I really donât know what to think đ.
It sounds like youâre going through a pretty confusing situation! People often respond to those who are a bit different or unique in ways that can be playful or teasing, sometimes without realizing how it might affect them. Your classmates might see your quirky behavior as a signal to interact with you in a more humorous way, but it can definitely be hard to interpret their intentions.
On one hand, it could be that theyâre just trying to bond or connect with you through humor, which is pretty common in school settings. They might find your weirdness refreshing and want to engage with it in a lighthearted way. On the other hand, if it feels overwhelming or uncomfortable at times, that’s completely valid! Itâs okay to set boundaries if their jokes go too far or if youâre not in the mood for all the attention.
If youâre unsure about their intentions, maybe try talking to a couple of your classmates to get a better sense of how they view your behavior. Sometimes just having that conversation can help clarify things and make you feel more comfortable in your environment. Remember, itâs all about finding the balance between embracing your uniqueness and making sure you feel respected and understood!
