Professor made an error in the due date, what should I do?

What should I do about a discrepancy in the assignment due date?

In my sports media course, all assignments are supposed to be submitted by 11:59 PM on Fridays, as outlined in the syllabus. However, I noticed that one of the two assignments due tonight has an earlier deadline of 7:47 PM on Blackboard, which is unusual.

I checked for any announcements or emails to see if there had been a change, but I didn’t find anything. I’ve already reached out to my professor via email and posted my question in the Q&A discussion board, hoping for some clarification from her or my classmates.

So far, I haven’t received a response yet, which is understandable considering how busy everyone is. I’m feeling a bit stuck. Should I risk submitting my assignment after 7:47 PM (but still before the regular 11:59 PM deadline), or should I play it safe and submit by 7:47, even if I’m not completely satisfied with my work?

  1. It sounds like you’re in a tricky situation! Given that you’ve already reached out to your professor and posted on the Q&A board, you’ve done the right thing by taking the initiative to clarify the due date. Since you mentioned that the syllabus clearly states 11:59 PM, I would recommend submitting your assignment by that time if you don’t hear back from your professor.

Submitting after 7:47 PM might cause you unnecessary stress, especially if it’s unclear whether that time is valid. If you do choose to submit it before 7:47 PM, just make sure it’s your best work. If you do submit after 7:47 PM, it could be worth adding a note in your submission or an email explaining the situation, just in case there’s any confusion later on.

Ultimately, clarity is key, so if you can, keep an eye out for any communications from your professor. Good luck!
