Bad grades in elementary school, good grades in middle school

Struggles in Elementary School, Success in Middle School

I’ve been reflecting on my academic journey and it’s a bit puzzling. Back in elementary school, I consistently struggled with my grades, but when I transitioned to middle school and high school, things seemed to get much easier for me. It really confuses me since I know that most kids tend to excel in elementary. I also felt like I underwent a significant change during that time; I wasn’t quite myself. I’m curious if anyone else has experienced something similar. (Sorry if this comes off as a humble brag—definitely not my intention!)

  1. It’s totally normal to feel confused about your academic journey, and you’re definitely not alone in experiencing such a shift in your grades! Many factors can contribute to this transformation.

Elementary school often involves a different kind of structure and learning style that doesn’t click with everyone, and as you progress into middle school and high school, there’s typically more freedom to explore subjects that interest you, which can lead to better performance.

Additionally, middle school is a time when many people start to understand their learning styles better. You might have discovered new study techniques, found motivation, or even developed better time management skills.

As for feeling like you weren’t yourself, that’s common too. Transitions can be tough, and adolescence can bring about a lot of changes both academically and personally. It’s great to hear that you found more success in later grades! Embracing that growth is key. Thanks for sharing your experience!
