Classes for junior year…Am I cooked???

Junior Year Course Load… Am I in over my head??

This year, I’m enrolled in all K-level courses except for Honors Chemistry. Here’s what I’m planning to take:

  • Onramps Precalculus
  • AP English 3 (keep in mind, English isn’t my first language and I moved to the States about a year ago)
  • AP Chemistry or Onramps Chemistry 1 or 2 (I need to check with my counselor)
  • AP Physics 1
  • U.S. History (considering either Honors or Onramps)
  • Science Research and Design
  • Principles of Biomedical Science
  • AVID 1

Am I biting off more than I can chew?

  1. It sounds like you have a pretty ambitious course load for junior year! Balancing AP classes and college-level courses is definitely challenging, especially with English not being your first language. It’s great to see you pushing yourself, but make sure to consider how you’ll manage your time and workload.

    Here are a few thoughts:

    1. AP Courses: AP classes are rigorous, so it might be worth talking to your teachers or counselor about your readiness for AP Chemistry and Physics. You want to ensure you’re set up for success!

    2. English Language: Since AP English can be tough, don’t hesitate to utilize resources like tutoring or study groups. Getting extra help can make a big difference.

    3. Science Courses: If you’re questioning whether to take AP Chem or Onramps Chem, think about your comfort level with the material as well as your future goals. Onramps might be a better option if you feel you need to strengthen your foundation first.

    4. Balance: It can be easy to overload yourself, so make sure you’re also allowing time for extracurricular activities and self-care.

    5. Support: Avid is great for support and skills-building, and Sci Research can be a fantastic opportunity to dive into topics you’re passionate about.

Ultimately, being proactive and asking for help when needed is key. Make sure to check in with your counselor and see what will best fit your goals and capabilities. You’ve got this!

When do you use a hyphen?

When should you use a hyphen? To be honest, English isn’t my best subject. I’m a freshman in high school, and in my ninth-grade English class, I ended up with a B/C (around a B-). One of the reasons my grade wasn’t higher is because of my inconsistent grammar. So, I would appreciate it if […]
