I just picked my APs for the next 3 years, am I cooked?

I just finalized my AP schedule for the next three years—am I in over my head? 😅 Here’s what I’ve chosen for 10th to 12th grade, all honors and AP courses:

10th Grade:
– AP African American Studies

11th Grade:
– AP Language and Composition
– AP Psychology
– AP Art 2-D (required since I attend an arts high school)

12th Grade:
– AP Literature
– AP Government
– AP Calculus AB
– AP Physics 1
– AP Computer Science Principles

I’m aiming for a T10 school, so I’m feeling the pressure. Should I switch to AP Physics 1 for junior year instead of doing honors physics, which I originally planned? I feel like honors physics isn’t really tougher than regular physics—just more work.

Honestly, I think I’ve signed up for nearly every AP class my school offers! 😂

  1. First of all, it sounds like you’ve picked a really ambitious schedule! Taking all those AP classes, especially with honors and art classes included, is definitely a challenge, but it’s great that you’re aiming high for college.

If you feel comfortable with the workload and believe you can manage it alongside your other responsibilities (like homework, extracurriculars, and self-care), then go for it! However, make sure not to overextend yourself; it’s important to maintain a balance.

As for whether to take AP Physics 1 junior year instead of honors physics, it really depends on your interests and strengths. If you enjoy physics and feel confident in your ability to handle the AP material, then it might benefit you to take the AP class. On the other hand, if you think you’ll need a stronger foundation to prepare for college-level physics, sticking with honors could be the way to go. Consider your overall workload and whether you’ll be able to manage it effectively.

Ultimately, choose what aligns best with your goals and interests. Remember, colleges look at the rigor of your schedule, but they also value your overall well-being and engagement in non-academic pursuits. Good luck! You’ve got this!
