I really can’t stand my school anymore. It’s frustrating to see that it’s somehow more acceptable to be someone who commits sexual assault than to struggle with mental health issues. It feels like a lot of those “I’m so depressed…poor me” types don’t genuinely face those struggles; they just want to seem more interesting. They go out with friends, complain about feeling unsupported, and meanwhile, I know there are many students dealing with real mental health challenges. I’m specifically talking about this one type of girl who posts things like “š„ŗš„ŗš„ŗā¹ļø me and my eyebrow razor after a tough day,” but then mocks others with visible scars.
I also can’t stand people who preach about kindness and understandingāsharing messages like “Don’t make fun of someone; you never know what they’re going through”āonly to be the most ableist individuals around. For some reason, it’s perfectly normal to bully the severely autistic kids at school, and if you treat them like human beings, you get weird looks as if you’re the odd one out.
What drives me crazy is how people joke about having serious mental health conditions while simultaneously mocking those who genuinely do. They’ll say things like “Oh my gosh, I’m so OCD,” then turn around and laugh at someone coping with real OCD compulsions.
Just because I attempted to take my life once in ninth grade doesnāt mean people should avoid me like Iām contagious. So many friends dropped me after that, despite my support for them. They still convince themselves theyāre good people. No, you’re not.
Now it feels like whenever I walk by, people laugh, refuse to sit next to me, and spread ridiculous rumors that I don’t even want to know about. Can people just learn to mind their own business? What happened to treating everyone with respect? Honestly, I donāt even want to go to school anymore, especially since the teachers often aren’t any better. I’m so over it.
