Today, my school went into safe mode/lockdown due to a gang-related shooting nearby. Thankfully, no one got into the building. With all the school shootings happening across the US, I knew it would be a frightening experience, but I didn’t fully realize just how scared I’d feel. It was especially alarming when someone started banging on my classroom door during the lockdown.
