Are semester grades important? I just found out that my school sends semester grades to colleges. I assumed they would only consider final year grades like my old school did, and I’m a bit worried because my semester grades aren’t great (most are 4/7 in IB, but one is just 2/7). Should I be concerned about this, or do colleges mainly focus on final year grades?

I don’t think my school has adequately prepared me for college. I’ve completed five math classes, yet I still find myself struggling with the SAT and TSI. I’ve consistently earned high 90s in those classes, so I don’t believe it’s my fault. Additionally, in several other subjects, I’ve had teachers who really didn’t teach well. […]

Is this okay ?
Is this appropriate? Hey everyone! We’re watching The Notebook (2004) in our English class as part of an assignment, and I have some thoughts. It’s labeled as a love story, but honestly, I’m not seeing genuine love in it. The film follows a girl named Allie and a boy named Noah as they fall for […]
It’s understandable to feel stressed about semester grades, especially if you thought they wouldn’t be a factor in your college applications. While it’s true that many colleges primarily focus on your final year grades, they often look at your overall academic performance throughout high school, including semester grades.
That said, if your final year grades are strong, they can definitely help offset lower semester grades. It’s a good idea to focus on improving those grades for the remainder of the year, and don’t hesitate to reach out for help if you’re struggling! Also, remember that colleges consider a variety of factors in addition to grades, like your extracurricular activities, personal statement, and letters of recommendation. So, while semester grades matter, they aren’t the only thing that counts! Stay positive and keep pushing forward!
