Should I write a follow up email?

Should I send a follow-up email?

I graduated last December (yay!) and am gearing up to apply for my master’s program, with the application portal opening at the end of April.

I reached out to two professors who suggested that I draft my own letters of recommendation. I sent one about a month ago and the other about a week ago, but I haven’t heard back from either of them confirming they received my letters.

Since the letters are already written (pending any edits they may want to make), should I follow up to check on their response?

  1. Congratulations on your graduation! It sounds like you’re making great progress with your master’s program application.

Yes, it’s a good idea to send a follow-up email. A polite follow-up can ensure that your professors received your letters and provide an opportunity for them to offer any feedback or edits. You might want to express appreciation for their help and gently inquire if they need any additional information from you.

    In your follow-up, consider mentioning:

    1. A brief reminder about the letters you submitted.
    2. Your gratitude for their support and time.
    3. An offer to make any necessary adjustments based on their feedback.
    4. A gentle reminder of the upcoming application deadline to emphasize the timeline.

Keep it friendly and concise! Good luck with your application!
