What should I do?

What should I do?

I’m in a bit of a dilemma. I’m 17 and a high school senior this year, and graduation is just a few months away. There’s this girl I really want to ask out; the only catch is that she’s a sophomore and only 15. Is that weird? Do you think it’s socially acceptable? She seems pretty mature for her age.

Another thing on my mind is my post-graduation plans. I’m planning to stay in-state for college, so if we were to start dating, I think it could work out. What do you all think about age differences and relationships in this situation?

Plus, prom is coming up in about a month and a half. If I were to ask her to go with me, would it feel rushed if we’ve only been talking for a few weeks? I have so many concerns! What’s your take on this? 😭

  1. It sounds like you have a lot on your mind, and it’s totally normal to feel this way when it comes to relationships! Here are a few things to consider:

    1. Age Difference: Being two years apart in high school is pretty common, and as long as you both feel comfortable with it, it’s generally socially acceptable. Maturity varies from person to person, so trust your instincts about her level of maturity.

    2. Future Plans: Since you plan to stay in state for school, that can definitely help maintain a relationship if things go well. Long-distance relationships can be challenging, but if you both communicate well and are committed, it can work.

    3. Asking Her Out: Regarding prom, asking her after getting to know her for a few weeks sounds reasonable, especially if you both seem to vibe well. Just make sure you both feel comfortable with the idea. Maybe start with a casual hangout to get to know her better before diving into asking her to prom.

Overall, trust your instincts. If you feel a connection with her, go for it! Just be honest and open about your feelings, and see where it leads. Good luck!
