Understanding the Impact of Single-Gender Spaces on Gender Diversity Inclusion: A Student Research Initiative
As a Year 12 student exploring themes within Society and Culture, I am currently undertaking a major research project focused on the increasing polarization of homosocial environments and their influence on the inclusion of gender-diverse individuals. This study aims to shed light on how segregated spaces—such as sports teams, youth groups, religious organizations, and other single-gender communities—affect gender inclusivity and perceptions.
I invite participation from individuals across all demographics. The survey is completely anonymous; it does not collect personal identifiers like names or emails. However, it does inquire about gender, country, and age group to better understand diverse perspectives. My goal is to gather insights that can inform broader discussions on gender diversity and social spaces.
I am particularly interested in hearing from members involved in single-gender activities—such as sports teams, scouting groups, youth organizations, and religious groups—as many teenagers and young adults participate in these environments. Your experiences are invaluable to this research.
Your contributions are deeply appreciated, especially from gender-diverse and transgender individuals, as responses so far have been limited.
Additionally, I am happy to assist others with their research projects or answer questions related to conducting studies on similar subjects. As I am passionate about this topic and nearing the completion of my course work, I can offer advice on project planning and topic selection.
Thank you in advance for your support and insights. Together, we can contribute to a better understanding of gender diversity within social spaces.
