Football Coaches as History Teachers??
I’ve recently noticed that many high schools have football coaches who also teach history, and it seems like they don’t really engage with the class. In my experience, our ‘teacher’ mostly has us use chat GPT for assignments, sends us on random history word hunts, and assigns meaningless essays.
Is this phenomenon of football coaches doubling as history teachers common in schools around here?
It definitely sounds like a common experience at some schools! It’s interesting how coaching responsibilities can sometimes take precedence over teaching, leading to less engagement in the classroom. Football coaches often have intense schedules, which might limit their ability to focus on lesson plans. That said, teachers should still strive to create a meaningful learning environment, no matter their background. Have you talked to your school about these concerns, or suggested ways to make the class more engaging? It might be worth discussing!
